Microsoft has stopped extended support for SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. Therefore, Tencent Cloud will follow the Microsoft Lifecycle Policy(https://learn.microsoft.com/zh-cn/lifecycle/products/?products=sql-server) and plans to end sale for SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise instances starting from December 31, 2025. Details are as follows:
Time for Ending Sale
December 31, 2025 (Wednesday) (UTC+8).
Impact Description
SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise instances purchased before December 31, 2025 are not affected. Tencent Cloud will continue to provide product services and technical support for such instances.
Starting from December 31, 2025, you can no longer purchase SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise instances. You can purchase instances of later database versions.
Precautions
Microsoft has stopped extended support for SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise. If you continue to use SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise instances, your applications and business may face various risks, including but not limited to security vulnerabilities, application compatibility issues, compliance risks, and potential security risks caused by other non-functional issues. It is recommended that you select SQL Server 2016 Enterprise or later versions during instance purchase. You can also upgrade existing instances to SQL Server 2016 Enterprise or later versions to ensure business security and stability.
