Tencent Cloud SMS will update the length calculation rules for Global SMS starting from October 13th, 2025:
1.For SMS containing non-English characters, certain emoji, rare Chinese characters, and special symbols will be counted as 2 or more characters.
2.Since local carriers automatically add a prefix when delivering SMS, the final billing character count for messages sent to Malaysia will be 7 characters more than the original message. The segmentation rules for SMS sent to Malaysia are as follows:
●Pure English SMS:
○Within 153 characters: billed as 1 SMS.
○Over 153 characters: considered long SMS, segmented as 146/153/153/153/... characters per message for billing.
●SMS containing non-English characters:
○Within 63 characters: billed as 1 SMS.
○Over 63 characters: considered long SMS, segmented as 60/67/67/67/... characters per message for billing.
