The GoTo ecosystem provides a wide range of services, including mobility, delivery, payments, financial services, and technology solutions for merchants. The ecosystem also provides e-commerce services through Tokopedia and banking services through its partnership with Bank Jago.


Challenges & Goals

The five-year partnership began with clearly defined goals, centered on supporting Indonesia’s digital transformation and advancing the nation’s Golden Indonesia 2045 vision. By leveraging Tencent Cloud’s technologies and local data centers, GoTo aimed to empower local enterprises – including MSMEs - to innovate and scale efficiently. Another key objective was to enhance user experience by delivering seamless, integrated services across GoTo’s platforms. Strengthening data sovereignty through local data residency was also a top priority, ensuring greater security and control for Indonesian businesses.


Undertaking one of Southeast Asia’s largest and most complex cloud migrations, GoTo and Tencent Cloud faced great obstacles. First, migrating hundreds of microservices across cross-border, multi-cloud environments demanded both operational continuity and technical precision. Additionally, the migration necessitated robust database tools to support efficient data replication, disaster recovery, and rollback, ensuring resilience and minimizing service disruptions.

By migrating GoTo’s On-Demand Services to Tencent Cloud’s local data centers in Jakarta, the companies have ensured enhanced data sovereignty. The migration, which involved over hundreds of microservices, was completed in just 4 hours and 54 minutes, more than an hour ahead of schedule. This joint effort between GoTo and Tencent Cloud led to the success of one of Southeast Asia’s most complex cloud relocations.

GoTo benefits from Tencent Cloud’s local infrastructure, now comprising three data centers in Jakarta. This setup enables GoTo’s data localization and sovereignty, minimizes data access delays, strengthens disaster recovery options, and provides a scalable foundation for business continuity and future growth. The collaboration also enables quick deployment of services and cost reductions, which were key decision factors for GoTo.
