Dragon Nest: World is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG) developed by Shengqu Games, built on the globally popular Dragon Nest IP since its debut in 2010. Backed by Tencent Cloud, the game has remained a Top 10 title in action games and one of the longest-running games in the MMORPGs.
Challenges & Goals
As Dragon Nest: World expanded its operation globally, Shengqu Games faced three key challenges:
Elasticity and resource planning
As one of the most popular MMORPG titles, Dragon Nest: World attracted massive attention from its fan base ahead of the launch. It drove massive, unpredictable traffic spikes, requiring rapid elastic scaling beyond pre-provisioned capacity. Early promotion and rising pre-registrations placed intense pressure on resource planning and deployment speed.
Security threats
High visibility and sustained player traffic exposed the game to frequent attack attempts, necessitating real-time threat detection and rapid mitigation to maintain service availability and operational stability.
Storage Concerns
Traditional server and tape-based data architectures incurred high upfront hardware costs, delivered slow backup and restore speeds, and depended on dedicated on-site operations staff, leading to significant operational overhead.
Why Tencent Cloud
Tencent Cloud's proven elastic infrastructure, enterprise-grade security, and hands-on launch support made it the right partner to address Dragon Nest: World's compute, security, and storage challenges. Following the successful partnership, all subsequent regional servers were progressively migrated to Tencent Cloud, achieving full platform deployment.
Highlighted Benefits
