5.x Clusters

TDMQ for RocketMQ 5.x clusters provide two billing modes: yearly/monthly subscription (prepaid) and pay-as-you-go (postpaid). For detailed differences between billing modes and the composition of cluster billable items, see Billing Overview. This document mainly introduces the pricing of each billable item of 5.x clusters.
Computing Fee
TDMQ for RocketMQ 5.x clusters use message sending and receiving TPS to measure the computing capacity. Each cluster edition provides different TPS specifications. The computing fee is calculated based on the TPS specifications and usage duration.
TPS Calculation Rules
TPS is calculated in two dimensions: message type and message size.
Message type: TDMQ for RocketMQ supports four message types: normal messages, scheduled and delayed messages, transactional messages, and ordered messages. The last three message types are all advanced feature messages.
Normal messages: The message TPS is calculated as 1 time/second each time a normal message is sent or consumed, regardless of whether the message is sent successfully or consumed successfully.
Advanced feature messages: The message TPS is calculated as 5 times/second each time an advanced feature message is sent or consumed. For example, if two transactional messages are sent once and one transactional message is consumed for a topic, the message sending and receiving TPS is calculated as follows: 2 x 5 + 1 x 5 = 15 times/second.
Message size:
Message size is measured in units of 4 KB. If a message is less than 4 KB in size, it will be counted as 4 KB. For example, if a message request is 18 KB in size, the message sending TPS is calculated as follows: ⌈18/4⌉ = 5 times/second.
⌈ ⌉ means rounding up to the nearest integer.
Pricing
TDMQ for RocketMQ clusters support two billing modes for the computing fee: yearly/monthly subscription and pay-as-you-go.
Yearly/monthly subscription (prepaid): The billing unit is USD/month.
Pay-as-you-go (postpaid): The billing unit is USD/hour. Fees are calculated hourly, with any duration less than one hour calculated as a full hour. Settlement occurs daily, with bills issued and fees deducted the next day.

Elastic TPS Fee
Only the Pro Edition and Platinum Edition clusters support the elastic TPS feature and incur relevant fees.
The billing mode for the elastic TPS feature of TDMQ for RocketMQ clusters is pay-as-you-go (postpaid). The billing unit is USD/TPS/hour. Bills are generated hourly, and any duration less than one hour is calculated as a full hour.
Hourly elastic TPS fee = Maximum incremental TPS value within 1 hour x Unit price of elastic TPS.
Example: Suppose a TDMQ for RocketMQ Pro Edition cluster originally has a TPS specification of 6,000. After the elastic TPS feature is enabled, an additional 4,000 elastic TPS is added, bringing the total TPS to 10,000. If the peak TPS within one hour reaches 9,000, the additional fee for this hour is calculated as follows: Unit price 0.006 x Excess TPS 3,000 x 1 hour = USD 18.

Billing example:
Assume your cluster is located in the Guangzhou region, of the Pro Edition, with a base message sending and receiving TPS specification of 10,000 transactions per second. The elastic TPS upper limit is 6,000 transactions per second, and the unit price of elastic TPS is 0.0017 USD/TPS/second. Suppose during the hour from 14:00 to 15:00, the cluster's message sending and receiving activities are as follows:
At 14:00, the cluster's peak TPS usage was 9,000 transactions per second, with no elastic TPS used.
At 14:01, the cluster's peak TPS usage was 9,500 transactions per second, with no elastic TPS used.
At 14:02, the cluster's peak TPS usage was 10,500 transactions per second, requiring 500 transactions per second of elastic TPS.
... Throughout this period, the cluster's peak TPS usage remained between 8,000-9,000 transactions per second, with no elastic TPS used.
At 14:58, the cluster's peak TPS usage was 12,000 transactions per second, requiring 2,000 transactions per second of elastic TPS.
At 14:59, the cluster's peak TPS usage was 11,000 transactions per second, requiring 1,000 transactions per second of elastic TPS.
Within this hour, the maximum incremental TPS value is 2,000 transactions per second. The elastic TPS fee incurred during this hour is calculated as 2,000 x 0.0017 = USD 3.4.
Storage fee
The storage fee for a TDMQ for RocketMQ cluster is billed based on the storage space occupied by messages and the storage duration. The billing mode is pay-as-you-go (postpaid). The billing unit is USD/GB/hour. Bills are generated hourly, and any duration less than one hour is calculated as a full hour.

Topic Fee Incurred for the Portion Exceeding Specifications
Each computing specification includes a different free tier of topics. Usage beyond the free tier will be charged on a tiered pricing basis. If the number of topics you require exceeds the limit supported by your current cluster specifications, it is recommended to upgrade your cluster specifications.
By default, the number of groups and the number of topics are a 10:1 ratio. You can modify the topic quota to adjust the group quota.
Note:
The number of topics here only includes those created in the console. Topics corresponding to dead letter queues and retry queues do not consume the quota.

Billing example:
Customer A purchased a monthly prepaid 5.x Pro Edition cluster in the Guangzhou region with a base specification of 8,000 TPS, requiring 800 topics. The Pro Edition 8,000 TPS cluster supports a default free tier of 300 topics. Therefore, the excess number of topics is 500. Based on the tiered pricing structure above, the additional topic fee is calculated as follows: 1.7 x 100 + 1.43 x 100 + 1.14 x (500 – 200) = 655 USD/month.
Public Network Bandwidth Fee
After the public network bandwidth is enabled, fees will be incurred based on the usage duration of the public network bandwidth. Once it is enabled, you can disable it on the Cluster Management page. If public network access is not enabled, no fees will be incurred.
Public network bandwidth fees have three billing modes: yearly/monthly subscription, postpaid by hour, and pay-by-traffic.
Note:
To facilitate resource lifecycle management for customers, if the computing specification of a cluster is purchased through yearly/monthly subscription, the public network supports two billing methods: yearly billing and pay-by-traffic. If the computing specification of a cluster is purchased through pay-as-you-go, the public network supports two billing methods: postpaid by hour and pay-by-traffic.

Postpaid by Hour
This billing mode is charged based on the public network transmission rate (unit: Mbps) and is settled on an hourly basis. During the settlement, fees are calculated based on the actual usage hours.

Pay-by-Traffic
Note:
The current billed traffic is outbound traffic (Mbps), indicating the traffic from Cloud Load Balancer (CLB) to the public network.
To prevent high costs caused by sudden traffic bursts, you can specify an upper limit on the bandwidth. If the traffic volume exceeds the upper limit of the bandwidth, packets will be discarded by default, and no fees will be charged.
The unit conversion scale for traffic is 1024. That is, 1 TB = 1024 GB, and 1 GB = 1024 MB.
