When you create a Cloud Virtual Desktop (CVD) instance, the CVD product specifications you specify determine the host hardware configuration of the instance. CVD instances offer a wide variety of specifications. Each instance type provides different computing capabilities, allowing you to choose the appropriate computing power and storage space based on the scale of your target service. This flexibility enables you to select the right resources for your usage scenarios.

Billing Modes

The specifications of a CVD instance include computing resources (vCPU, memory, and GPU), management components (Standard and Graphics), and storage resources (system disk and data disk). You can determine the specifications, quantity, and regional distribution of the CVD instances you purchase based on your planning for user access and CVD usage scenarios, to provide high-quality CVD services for your users. CVD supports two billing modes: yearly/monthly subscription (prepaid) and pay-as-you-go (postpaid).
Billing Mode
Payment Mode
Scenario
Yearly/Monthly subscription
Prepaid mode. You pay for a specified duration upfront when creating the CVD instance and can choose whether to renew based on usage.
Suitable for scenarios requiring stable and long-term usage of CVD resources, with costs lower than the pay-as-you-go billing mode.
Pay-as-you-go
Postpaid mode. You request CVD resources as needed and are charged based on your actual resource usage (with duration accurate to seconds) upon settlement.
Suitable for scenarios with short-term business needs. You can start and stop instances to release computing resources as needed, which helps save costs.
Note:
Pay-as-you-go CVD instances support no charge during shutdown. When an instance is shut down while retaining its configuration, the system automatically reclaims its computing resources (vCPU, memory, and GPU). During this period, you are not charged for computing resources, only for the storage resources (system and data disks). This helps reduce your costs.
When a CVD instance is shut down, its computing resources are released. Therefore, subsequent attempts to start up the instance may fail. In this case, you can try starting it up again or starting it up at a later time.
When performing Ops operations such as restarting or resetting a CVD instance, the system may need to automatically shut down and restart the instance. The policy of no charge during shutdown does not apply during such automated operations.
For pay-as-you-go CVD instances, billing starts as soon as the instance enters the Running status after purchase, regardless of whether it is bound to a user or is in use.

CVD Instance Specifications

Computing resources: The computing resources of a CVD instance include different combinations of CPU, memory, and GPU specifications. You can flexibly choose based on your business requirements.
Storage resources: The CVD system disk and data disk host the operating system and user data, respectively. You can choose between Cloud SSD or Premium Disk.
CVD instances are billed using either the yearly/monthly subscription (prepaid) mode or the postpaid pay-as-you-go (postpaid) mode. For more information, see the Billing Modes section.
Note:
On the day the user requests a refund, if the CVD instance has been used for one or more full months, fees for those months are deducted based on the monthly subscription price and the applicable official discount. If the usage is less than a full month, fees are deducted based on the actual usage duration and the pay-as-you-go price. For more information, see Refund.

Computing Resources

The computing resources of CVD instances are sold in packages. The specifications of computing resources you specify determine the CPU, memory, and GPU configurations of the instance. Different instance types provide different computing capabilities, making them suitable for various CVD business scenarios.
