Description
Standard instances provide a balance of compute, memory, and network resources to accommodate most applications.

Standard Instance Family

Standard instances provide a balance of compute, memory, and network resources to accommodate most applications.

Standard SA9e

Standard SA9e instances are the latest generation of standard instances, built on a newly optimized virtualization platform. They offer balanced and stable compute, memory, and network resources, making them an ideal choice for a wide range of applications.
Standard SA9e instances are powered by the latest AMD EPYC™ Turin-Classic processors and feature next-generation Double Data Rate 5 (DDR5) memory with default network optimization. They support up to 67.5 million PPS for private network packet receiving and sending capabilities.

Features

Built on next-generation Tencent Cloud self-developed Star Lake dual-socket servers, powered by AMD EPYC™ Turin-Classic processors.
Offers multiple CPU-to-memory ratios, including 1:2 and 1:4, with an all-core turbo frequency of 4.1 GHz.
67.5 million PPS, offering ultra-high packet receiving and sending capabilities to support intensive private network transmission.
Instance network performance scales with specifications. For configurations with a base bandwidth below 25 Gbps, burst bandwidth is supported. Higher specifications offer stronger packet forwarding performance and a higher upper limit for private network bandwidth.
Support enabling or disabling hyper-threading configuration.
Support burst bandwidth.
Note:
Burst bandwidth: The size of private network bandwidth is related to instance specifications, each having its own maximum private network bandwidth limit. In scenarios where network traffic surges within a short duration, Tencent Cloud servers offer burst bandwidth processing capabilities. For cloud servers that meet burst conditions, exceeding of the private network bandwidth limit for a short period is allowed, catering to customer business needs.
Support jumbo frames.
Note:
Jumbo frames: Tencent Cloud supports sending Ethernet frames with an 8500-byte payload. Using Jumbo frames can fully maximize network performance, making it suitable for storage scenarios and other high traffic situations, thereby enhancing transmission efficiency.

Application Scenarios

Standard SA9e instances are suitable for the following scenarios:
Enterprise applications of various types and scales.
Small and medium-sized database systems, caches, search clusters.
Computing clusters, and memory-dependent data processing.
Network-intensive scenarios with high packet processing requirements, such as video bullet comments, live streaming, and gaming.

Requirements

SA9e instances are available in both yearly/monthly subscription and pay-as-you-go billing modes.
SA9e instances can only be launched within a VPC.
It is recommended to pair with the TencentOS Server operating system for optimal application performance of the instance.
SA9e instances support configurable purchases. See the instance specifications below. Make sure the selected instance size meets the minimum CPU and memory requirements of your operating system and applications. In many use cases, operating systems with graphics-intensive user interfaces (such as Windows), which consume significant CPU and memory resources, may require larger instance sizes. As your workload grows and demands more CPU and memory over time, you can scale up to higher configurations or choose a different instance type.
Network performance depends on the support of the instance's operating system kernel version and running environment. When PPS exceeds 10 million and bandwidth exceeds 50 Gbps, the kernel network stack may introduce significant performance overhead. In such cases, the bandwidth results from netperf testing may not meet expectations. You can use DPDK to bypass kernel stack differences on CVMs and obtain the instance's actual network performance. For testing instructions, see High-throughput Network Performance Testing.
