Internet Tunnel Billing Overview

Focus Mode
Font Size
Last updated: 2025-04-02 18:20:14
This document will show you the composition and specific details of the Internet tunnel service fees.

Fee Composition

The fees of the Internet tunnel consists of public network bandwidth fees and public IP resource fees.
Public network bandwidth fees: Pay-as-you-go based on enhanced monthly 95th percentile peak shaving. Different tunnel bandwidth specifications have different minimum bandwidths.
Public IP resource fees: Monthly pay-as-you-go based on the number of public IPs used. Fees incurred in each calendar month will be deducted between 8:00 am to 10:00 am on the 1st day of the following month.
Note
From 00:00 on November 30, 2021, the newly applied public network bandwidth will no longer be provided with the free public IP.
Before 00:00 on November 30, 2021, any existing free public IPs can continue to be used. If you voluntarily delete an existing free public IP, it cannot be reused or retrieved.
The Internet tunnel is one of the paid features of Tencent Cloud Direct Connect (DC) products. To use it, submit a ticket. If you have enabled this feature while using the DC product, your total expenses will include both Internet tunnel fees and DC-related fees. For details on DC-related fees, see Direct Connect Billing Overview.

Pricing

Public Network Bandwidth Fees

Enhanced 95th Percentile Billing

Public network bandwidth fees = MAX (enhanced 95th percentile bandwidth value, minimum bandwidth) x Effective day ratio x Product unit price
Term explanation:
Daily bandwidth peak: The system collects the larger value of the inbound and outbound bandwidth peaks within 5 minutes as a statistical point every 5 minutes, sorts them by day, removes the top 4 peaks, and takes the fifth peak as the daily peak.
Effective day: A day is considered an effective day if there is a 5-minute bandwidth value greater than 500 Kbps on that day.
Effective day ratio: Effective day ratio = Effective days in the month/Number of days in the calendar month
Enhanced monthly 95th percentile bandwidth peak: In a calendar month, the system collects the daily bandwidth peaks of all effective days, sorts them in descending order, and averages the top 5 daily peaks to obtain the enhanced 95th percentile bandwidth peak.
Minimum bandwidth
Minimum bandwidth = Average of the daily minimum bandwidth of effective days
If the tunnel bandwidth is greater than 1,500 Mbps, the daily minimum bandwidth is 300 Mbps.
If the tunnel bandwidth is not greater than 1,500 Mbps, the daily minimum bandwidth is 20% of the current bandwidth.

Monthly 95th Percentile Billing

Public network bandwidth fees = MAX (monthly 95th percentile bandwidth value, minimum bandwidth) x Effective day ratio x Product unit price
Term explanation:
5-minute bandwidth value The system collects the larger value of the inbound and outbound bandwidth peaks within 5 minutes as a statistical point every 5 minutes, and records it as the 5-minute bandwidth value.
Effective day: A day is considered an effective day if there is a 5-minute bandwidth value greater than 500 Kbps on that day.
Effective day ratio: Effective day ratio = Effective days in the month/Number of days in the calendar month
Monthly 95th percentile bandwidth peak: In a calendar month, all 5-minute bandwidth values of the month are sorted in descending order. The maximum value after removing the top 5% points is the monthly 95th percentile bandwidth peak.
Minimum bandwidth: Minimum bandwidth = Average of the daily minimum bandwidth of effective days
The daily minimum bandwidth is fixed at 300 Mbps.
Note:
The bandwidth in regions outside the Chinese mainland (excluding Singapore) only covers the local bandwidth and does not include the return-to-country bandwidth; the bandwidth in Singapore includes both local and return-to-country bandwidth.

Note:
For Internet tunnels created before 00:00 on August 1, 2022, the original monthly 95th percentile billing algorithm will continue to be used from August 1, 2022 to January 1, 2023, and will be switched to the enhanced monthly 95th percentile billing mode at 00:00 on January 1, 2023. For relevant adjustments, consult the business manager.
For Internet tunnels created on or after 00:00 on August 1, 2022, the enhanced 95th percentile billing algorithm will be used.

Billing Examples

Assume that you create an Internet tunnel on June 10 (the billing month has 30 days) and delete this tunnel on June 21. The unit price is 16.97 USD/Mbps/month, and the enhanced 95th percentile is used for billing.
There are 6 days with bandwidth greater than 500 Kbps. The tunnel bandwidth is set to 500 Mbps for 2 days and 300 Mbps for 4 days. The minimum ratio is 30%, and the enhanced 95th percentile bandwidth value is 80 Mbps. For the month:
Enhanced 95th percentile bandwidth value = 80 Mbps
Daily minimum bandwidth = 150 Mbps and 90 Mbps
Monthly minimum bandwidth = (150 x 2 + 90 x 4)/6 = 110 Mbps
Effective day ratio = 6/30
Public network bandwidth fees = MAX (80, 110) x 6/30 x 16.97 = 110 x 6/30 x 16.97 = 373.34 USD

Public IP Resource Fees

Fee description: The minimum purchase quantity is 4. For higher quotas, submit a ticket. Payment mode: This is a post-payment monthly settlement mode, where the resource consumption for the current month will be billed and the payment will be deducted before 8:00 am on the 1st of the following month. If the usage period is less than 1 month, the effective duration will be taken into account, which is the sum of minutes in the "in use" state and the "disabled" state. Once the IP is returned, the billing will stop.
Public IP resource fees = Public IP monthly rent x Number of public IPs x Effective duration/(24 x 60 x Number of days in the calendar month)

Billing Examples

A user applied for an Internet tunnel public IP 10.0.0.0/24 (256 IP addresses) in October. Each IP was used for a duration of 20 days and 15 minutes, with a monthly rent of 16 USD per IP.
The number of IPs is 256. The usage duration of each IP is: 20 x 24 x 60 + 15 minutes = 28,815 minutes. Therefore, the total fees of the user's IP resources in October for this network segment are: 256 x 16 x 28,815 / (24 x 60 x 31) = 2,643.96 USD, where (24 x 60 x 31) is the total duration in October.
Note:
In this example, only the Internet tunnel fees are calculated. The Internet tunnel also needs to be used in conjunction with DC. For details on DC-related fees, see Direct Connect Billing Overview.
