TencentDB for SQL Server supports both automatic and manual backups for database backup. This article describes how to create a manual backup via the console.
Note:
Backup files are stored in an independent backup space and will not occupy the local disk space of the instance.
Do not perform DDL operations during backup to avoid table locking resulting in backup failure.
It is recommended to perform backups during off-peak hours.
If the amount of data is large, the process may take longer. Please be patient.
Single-node (formerly Basic Edition) instances do not support modifying the recovery mode. The default recovery mode for instances is full mode. If the recovery mode is changed to simple mode, the log chain will break, and manual backups will fail.
Prerequisites
Before performing manual backups, confirm that databases have been created. See Database Creation. Operation Steps
2. Select a region above, locate the target instance, click Instance ID or Manage in the Operation column to go to the instance management page.
3. On the instance management page, select the Backup Management tab and click Manual Backup.
4. Complete the following configurations in the pop-up dialog box and click OK.
Note:
The time required for backup is determined by the size of the backup file, which takes approximately 5 to 120 minutes.
|
Backup Object | Select the target for manual backup. Instance backup: Perform backup for all databases of the entire instance. Multi-database backup: If you select multi-database backup, you need to choose the databases to be backed up. All databases can be selected with one click. |
Backup Name | Set the backup name for manual backup. The backup name supports Chinese and English characters, numbers, and special characters -_./()[]+=:;@, with a maximum length of 128 characters. |
Retention Policy | Set the retention period policy for manual backup files: Instance lifecycle-dependent: indicates that the backup file will be saved following the instance lifecycle if they are not manually deleted. They will be deleted until the instance is terminated. Custom policy: indicates that the retention period policy for backup files follows that of automatic backups. |
5. After creation is completed, you can query manual backup files via the Data Backup list on the Backup Management page.
