Tencent Cloud Root Account and Sub-account
Tencent Cloud accounts are categorized into root accounts and sub-accounts. A root account has full access to the resources and cloud services it owns, and it can create sub-accounts, reset sub-account passwords, reset sub-account MFA, and assign permissions to sub-accounts, among other actions. A sub-account belongs to its root account, and their management permissions for resources and cloud services must be granted by the root account. To register a root account, see Register a Tencent Cloud Account. To create a sub-account, see Creating and Authorizing Sub-account. Note:
A sub-account is an account created and granted limited permissions by a root account. Its verified entity is the same as that of the root account. Actions performed by the sub-account are deemed as the actions of the root account's verified entity.
Root Account
When a user applies for a Tencent Cloud account, the system creates a root account identity for logging in to Tencent Cloud services. The root account is the fundamental entity for metering and billing Tencent Cloud resource usage. By default, a root account has full access permissions to all resources under its name and can create sub-accounts and set permissions to them.
Sub-account
A sub-account is an entity you create in Tencent Cloud. It has a specific identity ID and credentials, and is categorized into sub-users, collaborators, and message recipients.
The difference between a sub-user and a collaborator lies in that a sub-user belongs entirely to a root account, whereas a collaborator is a previously registered Tencent Cloud root account. This means a collaborator can have two identities: it can be the root account of its own account, and it can also switch to being a collaborator for a corresponding root account. For details, see User Types. For more information about sub-accounts, see CAM. Email-Related Concepts
