Tencent Cloud Lighthouse (Lighthouse) is a new-gen cloud server service for small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and individual developers. It features out-of-the-box service for cloud-based lightweight business scenarios, such as websites, web applications, mini programs, mini games, apps, cloud storage, image hosting, and various development and testing environments.
What are the differences between Lighthouse and CVM?
Compared with CVM, Lighthouse is easier to use and more suitable for SMEs, developers, cloud computing beginners, and students, as it simplifies CVM's advanced concepts and features. It integrates basic cloud resources into cost-effective out-of-the-box bundles. Such bundles contain popular open-source software programs perfect for lightweight use cases with low to medium load and moderate access requests, such as small websites, web applications, blogs, forums, mini programs, and mini games, as well as development, testing, and learning environments in the cloud. For more information, see Product Comparison.
How do I use Lighthouse?
For more information on Lighthouse and how to quickly get started with it, see the following documents:
Lighthouse is billed in a prepaid (monthly subscription) manner. The bundle validity ranges from 1 month to 5 years. If the instance is terminated before the expiration time, you will get a refund for the remaining validity. For more information, see Refund.
Can I purchase a separate data transfer plan for a Lighthouse instance?
No. The basic bundle you select at the time of purchase already includes a data transfer plan. If the plan quota is run out, the out-of-plan data transfer is billed on a pay-as-you-go basis. For more information on the basic bundle and out-of-plan data transfer, see Billing Overview.
What if the data transfer quota is run out?
Out-of-plan data transfer is billed by the outbound traffic, i.e., total volume of data transferred over the public network in GB. For more information, see Excessive Traffic Pricing.
How many Lighthouse instances can I purchase?
By default, each account can create ten Lighthouse instances per region. If you need a higher quota, submit a ticket .
How do I build a website or application in a Lighthouse instance?
You can refer to Best Practices to set up low-load lightweight applications with a moderate number of access requests, such as small and middle-sized websites, web applications, blogs, forums, mini programs, mini games, ecommerce, cloud storage, image hosting, and cloud-based development, testing, and learning environments.
How do I quickly create an application with Lighthouse?
Tencent Cloud regions are completely isolated. This guarantees the maximum cross-region stability and fault tolerance. We will gradually deploy nodes in more regions for a wider coverage. We recommend you select the region closest to your end users to minimize the access latency and improve the download speed.
In which regions is Lighthouse currently available?
Lighthouse is currently available in the following regions:
Hong Kong (China), Singapore, Tokyo, Silicon Valley, Toronto, Frankfurt and Mumbai.
Select the region closest to your target users to reduce the network access latency. For more information, see Region and Network Connectivity.
Can Lighthouse instances access each other over the private network?
Lighthouse instances in the same region under the same account can be interconnected over the private network by default, while instances in different regions cannot. For more information, see Private network connectivity description.
Can Lighthouse connect to or access other Tencent Cloud services over the private network?
By default, Lighthouse instances cannot interconnect with other Tencent Cloud resources in VPCs such as CVM and TencentDB over the private network, and their interconnection needs to be implemented by associating a CCN instance. For more information, see Interconnection over Private Network.
What is a Lighthouse data transfer plan?
Data transfer of a Lighthouse instance is included in the bundle. The quota of data transfer refers to the monthly upper limit on the public network outbound traffic. Out-of-plan data transfer is billed on the pay-as-you-go basis. For more information, see Billing Overview.
Does Lighthouse support data backup?
You can achieve convenient and efficient data protection by creating snapshots. Lighthouse offers a free tier of snapshots. For more information, see Managing Snapshots.
What is a Lighthouse image?
A Lighthouse image is a template for launching and running a Lighthouse instance. You can use an image to create one or multiple instances. Lighthouse provides images on multiple operating systems such as Linux and Windows Server as well as images of applications such as LAMP and WordPress.
What image types does Lighthouse support?
Application image: An application image provides everything you need to launch a Lighthouse instance, including the OS, applications (such as LAMP, WordPress, ASP.NET and Node.js), their runtime environments, and relevant initialization configuration files.
System image: A system image is a public image similar to CVM and supports OS images of various Linux distributions (such as TencentOS, CentOS, Ubuntu, and Debian) and Windows Server.
Custom image: Images created by the user. Custom images can only be used by the creator.
Does Lighthouse support Anti-DDoS Basic and CWPP Basic?
A firewall is an important method to protect the Lighthouse instance's network security. Its security protection features are equivalent to security groups in CVM. You can configure firewall rules to allow or reject access to Lighthouse instances over the private or public network. For more information, see Managing Firewall.
Does Lighthouse support Cloud Monitor?
Yes. You can set threshold alarms for the performance metrics of Lighthouse resources supported by Cloud Monitor (CM) , so that when an exception occurs, you can promptly receive notifications by email, SMS, or phone call and take actions.
Does Lighthouse support Cloud Access Management?
Yes. Lighthouse is connected to Cloud Access Management (CAM) and supports resource-level authorization. CAM can help you control the access permissions, resources, and use permissions of your Tencent Cloud account. For more information, see CAM Overview.
Does Lighthouse support CloudAudit? Does it have CloudAudit operation records?
