How to delete the Game Multimedia Engine app?

To delete the Game Multimedia Engine (GME) app, follow these steps based on your device type:

On Android Devices:

  1. Open the Settings app on your phone.
  2. Navigate to Apps or Apps & Notifications (the wording may vary by device).
  3. Find and select Game Multimedia Engine from the list of installed apps.
  4. Tap Uninstall and confirm the action when prompted.

Example: If you’re using a Samsung Galaxy phone, go to Settings > Apps > Game Multimedia Engine > Uninstall.

On iOS Devices (iPhone/iPad):

  1. Locate the Game Multimedia Engine app icon on your home screen.
  2. Tap and hold the icon until a menu appears with options like Remove App.
  3. Select Remove App, then confirm by tapping Delete App.

Example: On an iPhone 14, press and hold the GME app icon until it jiggles, then tap the × to delete it.

If the App is Pre-installed or Cannot Be Uninstalled:

Some devices come with GME pre-installed as a system app, and it may not be removable. In such cases:

  • You can disable it (on Android) by going to Settings > Apps > Game Multimedia Engine > Disable.
  • Alternatively, check if your device manufacturer provides an option to remove bloatware in Developer Options or through a custom recovery (advanced users only).
