Elastic IP (EIP) typically offers two main IP address types: IPv4 and IPv6.
-
IPv4 Address:
- The most widely used IP address type, supporting the traditional IPv4 protocol.
- Example: Assigning a static IPv4 address to a cloud server to ensure consistent accessibility, even if the server restarts or changes internal IP.
-
IPv6 Address:
- The next-generation IP protocol, providing a larger address space and improved features for modern networks.
- Example: Using an IPv6 Elastic IP for a globally accessible application to support IPv6-only clients or enhance network scalability.
For Elastic IP services, Tencent Cloud provides both IPv4 and IPv6 options, allowing users to bind EIPs to cloud resources like Virtual Machines (CVM) or Load Balancers for high availability and flexible network configurations.
