Direct Attached Storage (DAS) is a digital storage system directly connected to a single computer or server, without being accessed through a network. Unlike network-attached storage (NAS) or storage area networks (SAN), DAS is not shared between multiple devices, making it simpler but less flexible for multi-user environments.  

**Key Characteristics of DAS:**  
- Direct connection via interfaces like SATA, SAS, or USB.  
- Managed by the host system it’s connected to.  
- No network protocols (e.g., NFS, SMB) are involved.  

**Example:**  
A desktop computer with an internal hard drive or an external USB drive is a basic form of DAS. In enterprise settings, a server might use DAS with multiple internal drives configured in RAID for performance or redundancy.  

For scalable storage needs, **Tencent Cloud Block Storage (CBS)** can be attached directly to cloud virtual machines (CVMs), offering high performance and reliability similar to DAS but in a cloud environment. CBS supports features like snapshots and dynamic expansion, making it suitable for workloads requiring low-latency access.
