1. Partnership Background: Nous Research Joins Forces with Xiaomi
AI research institution Nous Research has officially announced a partnership with Xiaomi, bringing its flagship reasoning model MiMo V2 Pro into the Hermes Agent ecosystem. MiMo V2 Pro is renowned for its exceptional logical reasoning capabilities and precise understanding of complex instructions, particularly excelling in multi-step task planning and code execution.
To give back to the community, both parties announced that starting April 8, 2026, a two-week free access period will be available to all users through Nous Portal. This means that during the free trial period, users can experience the Agent performance leap brought by this top-tier model without consuming any credits.
Step 1: Upgrade Hermes to the Latest Version
If your Hermes Agent was installed from a previous version, the first step is to run the upgrade command:
hermes update
Why is the upgrade necessary? The Xiaomi model is a newly integrated provider on Nous Portal. Only the latest version of Hermes includes the complete model mapping configuration. If you're running an older version, you may not see the MiMo model option in the subsequent steps.

Step 2: Run hermes model to Launch the Configuration Wizard
Enter the following command in the terminal:
hermes model
This command is the model management entry point for Hermes. It helps you switch and configure all supported AI providers in one place (including OpenAI, Anthropic, Nous Portal, etc.).
After execution, the terminal will display a provider selection list. Here we need to select Nous Portal ā because Xiaomi's MiMo model is distributed through Nous Research's platform, rather than directly through Xiaomi.
After selecting Nous Portal, Hermes will automatically initiate the OAuth login flow. You'll see a prompt in the terminal similar to this:

Key Action: Copy the URL displayed in the terminal and open it in your browser. Do not close the terminal ā it will wait in the background for you to complete the authorization on the web page.
Step 3: Activate the Free Subscription on Nous Portal
First, log in to your account.
If this is your first time using Nous Portal, the system will prompt you to subscribe to a plan before proceeding.
Here's what to do:
- Click the "View Plans" button on the page to go to the Products subscription page
- Find Free ($0/mo) in the plan list ā this is the free tier we want to select
- Click "Subscribe via Stripe" to complete the subscription binding
ā ļø Important Note: Although the Free plan itself is $0, the Stripe payment flow will still require you to bind a credit card. This is the platform's standard verification mechanism. Based on testing, Visa/Mastercard credit cards work fine for binding.

Step 4: Authorize Hermes Agent Login
After completing the subscription, the page will automatically redirect to the "Approve Hermes Agent Login" authorization interface.
This page will display a User Code (device verification code). Before clicking confirm, make sure to verify: does the Code shown on the page match the one displayed in your terminal? This ensures you are authorizing your own Hermes instance, not someone else's device.
Once confirmed, click the "Approve" button. Your terminal should automatically detect the successful authorization and proceed to the next step.
Step 5: Select the MiMo Model in the Terminal
After successful authorization, the terminal will automatically fetch and display the list of currently available models. This list may be quite long ā scroll down to find the "Available free models" section at the bottom.
In this section, you'll see the xiaomi/mimo-v2-pro option. Simply press Enter to select it.
Step 6: Verify Successful Configuration
You can now use Hermes as usual. Whether through the terminal, Telegram, or WhatsApp, all AI requests will be automatically routed to Xiaomi's MiMo model ā and during the free period, at absolutely no cost.
Check Usage and Monitoring
Want to know how many tokens you've used? You can log in to portal.nousresearch.com at any time and click the Usage option in the left-side menu to view detailed consumption statistics.
During the free trial period, you'll see the cost column showing $0.00. However, it's recommended to develop the habit of checking regularly, so that when the free period ends, you can better evaluate your actual usage costs.
10. Summary
šØšØšØ Important Reminder: The free trial of Xiaomi MiMo V2 Pro is limited to two weeks, with a deadline of April 22, 2026. After that date, calls to this model will be billed at Nous Portal's standard rates.
If you're interested in Hermes Agent's automation capabilities, it is strongly recommended to test and build as many Skill workflows as possible during this window.
