Passkey is a new authentication method based on the FIDO2 international standard. It replaces traditional passwords with biometrics (fingerprint/facial recognition) or device-local PIN codes to enable more secure account login and verification. Tencent Cloud International now support log in with passkey, providing users with a more convenient and secure login experience.

Core Features

High Security: Passkey leverages the public-key cryptography mechanism of the WebAuthn standard to generate a unique key pair for each account. The private key is exclusively stored locally on the user's device, while only the non-sensitive public key is retained on the server, eliminating the risk of shared secret leakage. Combined with biometric authorization (Face ID / Touch ID) or device PIN authentication, biometric data is processed locally throughout the entire process and never transmitted to servers, ensuring user privacy and security.
High Convenience: You no longer need to remember complex passwords. By using built-in device features like fingerprint scanning, facial recognition, or entering a PIN, you can quickly complete authentication. Through end-to-end encrypted cloud synchronization technology (e.g., iCloud Keychain), passkeys can be automatically synced across a user's multiple devices, allowing new devices to be used without re-registration.
