Eliminate or restore recycle bin instances
Overview
The "Eliminate or Restore Recycle Bin Instances" feature is used to manage database instances that have been returned or destroyed and are in the recycle bin retention period. This operation provides an important data security buffer for correcting accidental operations or performing data recovery.
Restore Accidentally Destroyed Instances (Restore Instances)
When you accidentally terminate a pay-as-you-go instance, you can fully restore it using the restore feature within the 7-day retention period after the instance is moved to the recycle bin. After restoration, the instance's configuration, data, and connection address remain unchanged, allowing business services to resume normal access immediately.
Actively and Permanently Destroy Data (Eliminate Instances)
If you confirm that an instance in the recycle bin and its data are no longer needed, you can proactively eliminate it. This action will immediately and permanently delete the instance and all its data, release the occupied resources, and the data cannot be recovered. It applies to scenarios requiring strict data cleanup policies or immediate resource release.
Recycle Bin Retention Period Description
Pay-as-you-go instances will be retained in the recycle bin for 7 days after the payment becomes overdue beyond the 24-hour grace period or after manual termination. During the retention period in the recycle bin, instances are processed as described in the following table.

Description Tencent Cloud will notify the user of the upcoming resource release on the 7th day after service suspension. (The actual notification method is subject to the subscription configuration in the Message Center.) On the 8th day, the user will be notified that the resources have been released. |
Within the period from the 8th day to the 15th day in the recycle bin | TencentDB for MongoDB instances will be cleared from the recycle bin, and instance backups will be retained in the backend for 8 days. To restore instances, contact Tencent Cloud engineers. At the end of the 15th day after service suspension, all backup data will be deleted and cannot be restored. |

Prerequisites
The TencentDB for MongoDB instance has been terminated and moved to the recycle bin.
Your Tencent Cloud account has a sufficient balance.
Viewing Recycle Bin Instances
1. Log in to the TencentDB for MongoDB console.
2. In the left sidebar, choose MongoDB > Recycle Bin.
3. Select a region at the top of the page.
4. On the right-side Recycle Bin page, you can view the list of instances in the recycle bin.
Restoring Instances
1. In the recycle bin instance list, locate the target instance to be restored and click Restore in the Operation column.
2. In the Restore Instance dialog box, confirm the instance information to be restored and click OK.
The instance will be moved back to the instance list of the replica set or sharded cluster.
Batch Restore Instances
1. In the recycle bin instance list, select the instances to be restored.
2. Click Batch Restore above the list. In the Restore Instance dialog box, confirm the instance information to be restored and click OK. The instances will be moved back to the instance list of the replica set or sharded cluster.
Eliminating an Instance
1. In the recycle bin instance list, locate the instance you need to eliminate and click Eliminate Now in the Operation column.
2. In the Instance Elimination dialog box, confirm the instance information and click OK.
Note:
After the instance is eliminated, all its data will be permanently deleted and cannot be recovered. Please back up your data in advance.
