This document describes how to apply for and release an IPv6 address for an Elastic Network Interface (ENI).
Note:
Virtual Private Cloud (VPC) supports IPv6 addresses in the following regions: Guangzhou, Shanghai, Beijing, Nanjing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Hong Kong (China), Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Virginia, Silicon Valley, Frankfurt, Sao Paulo, Beijing Finance, Shanghai Finance, and Shenzhen Finance. To use this feature, please Consult Online.
Cloud Virtual Machine (CVM) instance types that support communication using ULA addresses are as follows: S5, S5se, SA2, S4, SN3ne, S2ne, SR1, M6ce, M6p, M5, MA2, M4, IT5, IT3, D3, D2, and C5.

Prerequisites

An IPv6 CIDR has been assigned to the subnet where the ENI resides.

Operation Steps

Applying for an IPv6 Address

1. Log in to the VPC console.
2. In the left sidebar, choose IP and ENI > ENI to go to the ENI list page.
3. Click the ID of the instance you want to view to go to its details page.
4. Select the IPv6 Address Management tab and click Assign IP to apply for an IPv6 address.
5. In the displayed dialog box, click OK.
6. On the IPv6 Address Management tab, you can see that the system has assigned an IPv6 address to the ENI.

Releasing an IPv6 Address

1. Log in to the VPC console.
2. In the left sidebar, choose IP and ENI > ENI to go to the ENI list page.
3. Click the ID of the instance you want to view to go to its details page.
4. Select the IPv6 Address Management tab, confirm the IPv6 address to be released, and click Release.
Note:
Before releasing, please disable the public network access for this IPv6 address.
After an IPv6 address is released, it will no longer provide IPv6 network services for the CVM. Before releasing, confirm whether the selected IPv6 address meets your business expectations.
