Background
TDMQ CKafka offers fixed bandwidth specifications and supports specification adjustment, making it user-friendly for businesses to adjust accordingly when traffic changes. However, during actual business operations, unpredictable fluctuations in business traffic may occur. Since data migration may be involved, expansion time cannot be controlled, leading to unexpected impact on business.
To address such issues, TDMQ CKafka Pro Edition introduces elastic bandwidth capability. When business traffic exceeds the fixed specifications of the cluster, it provides elastic space to ensure normal business operation.
Feature Description
Elastic bandwidth is suitable for sudden traffic spikes on the business side. The portion exceeding the instance specification is billed based on usage on demand, with a certain capacity limit for the incremental part. If business traffic exceeds the instance specification most of the time, it is recommended to use the existing scaling capability for rapid scaling. For specific operations, refer to Changing Instance Specifications. Restrictions and Limitations
Currently, only Pro Edition instances support enabling elastic bandwidth.
The feature is controlled by an allowlist. If you need to enable it or require larger elastic bandwidth, contact us. Elastic bandwidth cannot be disabled once enabled.
The available space of elastic bandwidth has a certain upper limit, related to the cluster specification. The following is the corresponding elastic interval.
Bandwidth range (MB/s) | Upward adjustment margin (MB/s) |
20~100 | 30 |
120~300 | 60 |
320~600 | 100 |
620~900 | 200 |
920~1200 | 600 |
1600 or higher | 700 |
Billing Overview
Elastic Bandwidth is in pay-as-you-go mode. Once enabled, no fee is charged if unused. For billing details, refer to Elastic Bandwidth. Enabling Elastic Bandwidth
2. Select instance list in the left sidebar, then click create to enter the instance purchase page.
3. On the instance purchase page, select Professional Edition for cluster type selection, turn on elastic bandwidth capability, and select other options based on your business requirements.
4. After confirming the cost, click purchase now. On the order payment page, click pay. After completing the payment, wait 5-10 minutes to see the created elastic storage instance on the instance list page.
Viewing Monitoring Metrics
After enabling elastic bandwidth in CKafka Pro Edition, you will see two elastic bandwidth metrics on the cluster monitoring interface. Based on these metrics, you can observe whether elastic space has been triggered for usage, and they can also serve as a reference for billing calculation.
Elastic bandwidth production traffic
The sum of elastic bandwidth production traffic usage for this cluster instance at the selected time granularity.
Elastic bandwidth consumption traffic
The sum of elastic bandwidth consumption traffic usage for this cluster instance at the selected time granularity.
