Polaris Overview
Tencent Microservice Platform (TSF) - Registration Configuration Governance - Polaris (North Star) is used to solve service registration and discovery, fault tolerance, traffic control, and security issues in distributed or microservice architectures, providing capabilities such as rapid deployment, high availability and disaster recovery, Ops-free, and one-click setup of PolarisMesh.
Polaris (Chinese name: Polaris, hereinafter referred to as Polaris) is an open-source service discovery and governance center developed by Tencent. Within Tencent's internal systems, Polaris handles service registrations exceeding one million and processes over ten trillion daily API calls. Its versatility and stability have been rigorously validated at scale.
Core Features
Embrace Open Source: Supports access for mainstream open-source clients, such as: Spring Cloud, Mesh, gRPC, and so on. Meanwhile, Polaris has been officially open-sourced.
Service Registration and Discovery: High Availability, Large Capacity Service Registry, integrating enterprise's existing service data.
Routing and Load Balancing: Dynamically schedules live traffic to implement various traffic scheduling policies such as grayscale release.
Fault Circuit Breaking and Rate Limiting: Automatically performs disaster recovery switching and service degradation to ensure the reliability of service calls.
Observability: The data plane reports service call statistics and runtime logs to achieve observability of the operational status.
Access method
PolarisMesh provides multiple access methods to address pain points in service governance across heterogeneous systems and multi-language scenarios, allowing you to choose based on your current system setup. As shown in the following figure:
