Challenges & Goal
Supercell was looking for a cloud provider that could offer better coverage for improved latency to increase players’ experience, while also meeting growing number of concurrent players’ computing requirements and maintaining reasonable cost during non-peak periods.
Why Tencent Cloud
To meet the demands of real-time gaming experiences, Supercell utilizes a combination of Tencent Cloud services that provide flexibility, performance, and regional optimization.
1. Optimal Performance and Availability: Auto Scaling (AS) provides an application programming interface (API) for Supercell to use Terraform to provide optimal performance and availability for their games, even when workloads are unpredictable or continuously changing.
2. Strategic Global Coverage: Tencent Cloud provides Supercell with robust infrastructure coverage across Europe, particularly enhancing player experience in Eastern Europe and Turkey. Supercell deploys Cloud Virtual Machine (CVM) instances spread around multiple Availability Zones to increase availability of the gaming.
3. Scalable Storage: Cloud Object Storage (COS) allow Supercell to store the recording of game battles without worrying about storage space, partitioning, etc., also as COS S3-compatible API design. Supercell can easily leverage existing tools to store and manage objects stored.
